262 Rounds Later: Looking Back at Our First Month
When I started building Caddie Live, the goal wasn’t to create just another golf app.
I wanted to build the golf scoring platform I always wished existed. Something that worked just as well for a casual fourball as it did for a society day or tournament, while making5 every round feel a little more memorable.
Four weeks ago, we officially launched.
Like any new product, the biggest challenge wasn’t writing the code—it was convincing golfers to give something new a try.
One month later, I thought it would be fun to share where we are, what we’ve learned and where Caddie Live is heading next.
The Numbers So Far
It’s still very early, but it’s exciting to see golfers already putting the platform to work.
Over the first month we’ve seen:
- 52 golfers join Caddie Live
- 262 rounds completed
- 1,974 holes scored
- 9,327 shots tracked
- 22 golf courses played
- Golfers from 7 countries
- 3 organised tournaments
- 94 birdies (or better!)
Every one of those numbers represents golfers spending time on the course with friends, societies and clubs, and that’s exactly why Caddie Live exists.
Some Interesting Discoveries
One of the unexpected joys of building Caddie Live has been seeing patterns emerge from real rounds.
A few things stood out immediately.
Stableford is king
No surprises here.
Stableford has comfortably become the most popular scoring format during our first month, proving it’s still the preferred choice for social golf and society events.
Midweek golf is thriving
Looking at when rounds are being played, Tuesday and Wednesday have been our busiest scoring days.
That suggests plenty of organised societies, senior groups and regular club competitions are already making use of Caddie Live.
Weekend golf is still popular, of course, but it’s great to see organised golf embracing live scoring.

Perhaps the Biggest Surprise
One statistic really stood out.
Although we have 52 registered users, we’ve already recorded 115 guest rounds.
That tells us something important.
Golfers don’t necessarily want to create another account before they can enjoy a round with friends.
That’s exactly why Caddie Live allows organisers to invite players quickly using event codes, links or QR codes, letting everyone start scoring in seconds.
If people enjoy the experience, they’ll come back naturally.
Reducing friction has always been one of our design goals, and it’s encouraging to see that approach working.
What We’ve Learned
Launching a product teaches you things that no amount of planning ever can.
Our very first tournaments generated a huge amount of valuable feedback from organisers.
Some of the most requested improvements included:
- Faster player search
- Better event registration
- Improved TV leaderboards
- Easier society management
- Better support for season-long competitions
- More organiser tools
The good news?
Many of those improvements are already live, while others are actively being built.
One of the advantages of being an independent product is that we can listen, build and release improvements quickly.
We’re Still Only Getting Started
Let’s be honest.
52 users isn’t a huge number.
Compared to the established golf apps, we’re tiny.
But every golfer using Caddie Live today has helped shape the platform through bug reports, suggestions and feature requests.
That’s something we’re incredibly grateful for.
Rather than chasing download numbers, we’re focusing on building something golfers genuinely enjoy using every weekend.
If we get that right, growth will follow.
What’s Coming Next?
There’s plenty already in development, including:
- Dedicated Society Pages
- Event registration and payments
- Society merch shops
- Season-long society management
- Even better organiser tools
- More languages
- Continued improvements to AI features
- More scoring formats and statistics
The roadmap is driven almost entirely by feedback from golfers, and that’s exactly how we want to keep building.
